Character creation skills for actors

Spreckels Performing Arts Center, Rohnert Park, CA

This three week program will focus on character creation: bold, broad and specific options that are physical, mental, and emotional in scope. Participants will learn how to commit to choices, how to create characters that can be easily accessed, and how to switch between characters quickly and easily. Each week's session will cover separate elements, but if you cannot attend one of the sessions it is acceptable to come to one or both of the others.

This workshop will be an excellent prep for any show involving multiple character roles ("Peter and the Starcatcher", "Baskerville", "Greater Tuna") or for one-actor shows with multiple characters ("Buyer and Cellar", "Nine Parts of Desire", "Fully Committed"). David has performed in "Santaland Diaries" for ten consecutive years in the north bay area, and has directed David Templeton in his one-man show "Wretch Like Me".

Please come early to warm up and sign-in. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, and bring pen or pencil and paper, and water.
